Ex-Rep. Nanette Daza's BF shot dead in QC home
Suspect is Daza's son-in-law, Allan Robes, a Bulacan provincial board member

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – The long-time boyfriend of former Congresswoman Nanette Castelo Daza was shot dead on Friday evening in Quezon City.
Noel Orate Sr., a district manager of United Laboratories, was shot five times inside Daza’s home in Maningning Street, Barangay Teachers' Village East in QC. He died on the spot.
“If you are going to protect yourself from a person, one or two shots is enough. But if you are going to shoot a person five times and you target the upper torso, your intention is to kill," said Orate’s son, Noel Jr.
The 55-year-old victim was Daza’s boyfriend for 12 years.

The suspect was identified as Daza’s son-in-law Allan Robes, a board member of Bulacan province. Robes is married to Daza’s daughter Councilor Jessica Castelo Daza.
Robes was arrested and is now detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit in Camp Karingal.
Police said they responded to a call about a commotion inside the Daza residence past 10 p.m. on Friday. Policemen dispatched to check on the report suddenly heard successive shots being fired. They then saw the suspect, still armed with a .380 gun, about to leave the compound.

The camp of Robes, meanwhile, is claiming that the suspect acted on self-defense.
A barangay captain in Bulacan said that according to Robes’ brother, it was Orate who first drew his gun.
“Kwento ni Richie, tinutukan ng baril si Allan. Hinawi ‘yung baril diumano at nakabunot naman [si Allan] ng baril at siya ang nakaputok,” said Barangay Captain Noel Sagala of Sto. Cristo, San Jose Del Monte.
Some of Robes’ supporters in Bulacan were shocked that their board member was involved in the shooting.
“Baka pagtatanggol lang sa sarili kasi mabait ‘yon eh,” said one of his supporters.
The victim's family, however, dispelled claims that Robes acted on self-defense, based on the number and location of the gunshot wounds.
“[He was shot] five times. If you’re just going to disable the person, it should either be the leg of [shoulder], pero chest. You can never tell anyone that it’s self-defense,” said Noel Jr.
The victim’s son expressed fear over the safety of their family because he said the suspect comes from an influential family.
“We want justice. I fear for the safety of my family. Kasi sila they can do anything in an instant,” he said.
He added that his father had already ended his relationship with Daza.
“We know for a fact that Tita Nanette wanted to fix the relationship but my dad decided na it’s over,” Noel Jr. said.
Daza’s camp has yet to issue a statement on the incident as of posting.
Homicide
Homicide charges were filed against the suspect Robes during the inquest proceedings at the Quezon Regional Trial Court on Saturday.

Now that the Belisario family exposed Noel Orate as murderer from a 19-year old crime, I hope that the Volunteers against Crime and Corruption can get their act together and stay on the real side of justice and the victims of Noel Orate who are the Belisario family and the Daza-Robes hostage victims. Not because Orate died, he is automatically a victim. Belisario siblings were courageous in speaking the truth.

Noel orate sr. killed my father last march 24, 1993, noel orate jr. was the one who handed the gun to to his father and shot my father 5 time ending his life. my siblings (all four of us) were there to see it. and Noel orate's three children noelyn , rambo (noel jr.) and baby and the wife were there to witness this as well... his children then were studying in a private school here in zamboanga city. they fled the city for some reason have evaded capture... a warrant of arrest issued by court in zamboanga but apparently it was not served... my mother wrote united laboratories about such incident and begged the company to turn him over or at least inform the authorities of his whereabouts but this fell on deaf ears... we were surprised when we found out that he was even promoted by unilab... we were all adolescents then when this happened. my mom was studying in UP for her doctorate degree... the one who was with us at the time my father was killed was my grandmother (my father's mother).... he shot my father during his birthday...we learned that my dad was the second person he killed... tonight everything came into full circle...my father was killed because he could not bear the wife then of noel orate ( a certain linda) who was beating up his second child noelyn which was a common occurrence in their household... we were their next door neighbour here in zamboanga. food for thought to all concern. it is best you dig deeper... you may be surprised to learn that there may yet be things yet to be uncovered. to my papang the Lord works in mysterious ways indeed.
