Authorities found a suspected improvised bomb inside the Department of Agriculture compound on Elliptical Road, Quezon City Monday, a day after the bombing of the Office of the Ombudsman a few meters away.
Initial radio dzMM reports said a janitor found a rectangular object in a grassy area near the DA flagpole at 9 a.m.
Bomb experts of the Quezon City Police District said the object was about a foot long and covered in white packing tape with red wires sticking out. The explosives experts removed the wires before bringing the suspected explosive to Camp Karingal.
Police have yet to clarify if the object was indeed a bomb. They said they have no idea if the object was planted or thrown inside the compound.
Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap chastised security guards at the DA compound for failing to notice the object earlier.
On Sunday two unidentified assailants threw an explosive at the Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) on Agham Road in Quezon City. The blast damaged the OMB water treatment plant, the employees' shutter service and several widows.
