Floods hit parts of Metro Manila after typhoon Santi (international name Mirinae) dumped heavy rains after making landfall early Saturday.
The National Disaster Coordinating Council said 4 villages in Pasay City; 4 more in San Juan City and 1 in Navotas; 6 areas in Manila and 2 in Parañaque City went under waist deep to knee deep floods after the typhoon poured heavy rains over the metro overnight.
The NDCC said a total of 806 families or 4,029 persons were evacuated from the mentioned areas in Metro Manila ahead of the typhoon's landfall.
The typhoon brought heavy rains as metro residents were still recovering from floods caused by tropical storm Ondoy (Ketsana), which left thousands of families displaced and hundreds killed.
Meanwhile, rescuers were looking for a father who went missing after their shanty home located along a creek in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City was swept away by the strong current.
The father's two children were rescued by responding rescuers of the Bureau of Fire Protection, the NDCC said.
