MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday said it will facilitate the immediate repatriation of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) found dead in Saudi Arabia once authorities conclude its investigation into the case.

In a press statement, the DFA identified the OFW as Joy Malab Cabansi, 28. Cabansi was found dead inside her employer’s house in Jeddah on September 21.

“The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah is in constant communication with Major Rurki, chief investigator of the Amir Fawaz Police Station, on the investigation,” the DFA said.

The initial police findings based on the medical report indicate that rope marks found on Ms. Cabansi's neck, as well as the absence of defensive wounds and signs of struggle, point to the cause of death as a possible suicide.

“The Consulate has requested local police authorities to conduct a full and exhaustive examination on her death,” the DFA statement added.

The DFA's Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers' Affairs is in contact with Cabansi’s husband, Richard Sarto, as well as other members of her family.
